Emergency preparedness Co-ordinator Bill Petten Scannerbill2@gmail.com Call/Text 250-951-9094 Those attending were – A. Pickard,.txt Minutes of Dashwood Hall Meeting held on July 27, 2015 Those attending were A. Pickard, B. Petten, B. Petten, H. Foster, M. Foster, F. Gibbons, A. Batham. Bill Petten reported that he had received six responses to the Survey that he had emailed out a few days before, all of which had been generally positive to the Hall being retained either by repairing the present one or replacing it with a new one. Within those replies there were suggestion that money be raised by community fund raising events and Provincial and Federal grants and two offers of donations and or help with the physial work. There was also a suggestion that an official Hall fund be opened or identified to encourage people within the community to contribute to it. It was decided to wait until the next meeting when we will have more responses before members of the Steering group would look at all the Survey replies in detail. Details of a local new metal building that could be constructed were passed around by Andy Pickard. This would have the advantage of being built to present day code and seismic standards and the internal details could be added and worked on as funding became available. It was thought that a bare bones 50ft x 100ft metal buiding would cost approximately $150,000 plus cost of base and septic system. The email address will be added to the Survey that will be hand distributed to ensure that as many as possible local people are kept in the information loop. Frank Gibbons gave extra details of his suggested layout of a smaller building similar to theWelsh Memorial one overlooking the beach in Qualicum Beach, including a draft drawing of the suggested design. Further feedback from Steering Group members on all suggestions will be given at the next meeting. Andy Pickard made the point that the RDN do not make a profit from the opperation of any of their parks as they are run as a service to the community tax payers. Several Steering Group members felt that this should be a factor that the RDN should take into acount with regards to the Hall which is an integral part of our park. Andy Pickard will check with his home septic field contracter for his estimate for the Hall one. Hazel Foster sugested that an information session for the community be held in the hall at some time in the future. This will be included on the new Survey. Distribution of hard copy Surveys were discussed:- Andy Picard to tweek the Survey to make it easier to respond to and to check Q.B. Pharmasave copy prices compared to Parksville ones and have 250 copies made this week. Andy Pickard will deliver ones to homes on his side of Hwy 19A Bill and Barb. Patten will deliver to the Mobile Home Park and the strata houses opposite it on Hwy 19A. Mike and Hazel Foster will deliver to homes along Huckleberry Lane. Mike Foster will contact the metal building contractor to obtain information concerning insulation, windows, kitchen, toilets, etc. Mike Foster will bring to the next meeting a simple flow chart of the suggested time line that needs to be met to ensure that we have a good presentation at the November POSAC meeting. Ann Batham and any 'volenteers' that she can obtain will deliver to houses in Ganske, Centre, Mistaken, Cortex, Texada, Evanson, Troy and Alguard Roads and Centre Crescent. Surveys that are not picked up by the distributer are to be either mailed or dropped off at Ann Batham's home by the person who completes the Survey. The meeting concluded at 8:45pm – the next meeting will be at 7pm on Wednesday August 12th. .
